Passes Available
for Papal Mass

Monsignor David Diamond wrote on Aug. 27: "It is exactly one month from today that the Holy Father will be on Ben Franklin Parkway preparing to celebrate Mass for the conclusion of the World Meeting of Families. Below is a link to a letter from Archbishop Chaput in which he encourages all of us to participate in this historic event. It is already the largest World Meeting of Families since St. John Paul II began the custom. You will see that there are 17,000 registrants for the conferences and an expectation of anywhere from 700,000 to 1,000,000 on the parkway on that Sunday afternoon.

"Each parish of the Archdiocese will receive reserved standing passes to both the Festival of Families on Saturday and the Papal Mass on Sunday. Immaculate Conception Parish will receive 132 reserved standing passes for each event. The location is approximately between 20th and 22nd Streets on the Ben Franklin Parkway. Please send an email to iccbulletin604@gmail.com
if you are interested in receiving the passes. Because the number of tickets is limited we must be judicious in their distribution. We will receive these passes the week of September 14."

Still Need More Volunteers for Kickoff Event
of Parish's Sesquicentennial Celebation

Thank you very much to those who have already volunteered to be part of the Sesquicentennial celebration on Oct 17.  "We still need more parishioners to work that evening for an hour at a time," said Msgr David Diamond. "The meeting to talk about specific tasks will be held on October 1 at 7 PM in Conahan Hall. Please respond generously to this singular Parish event."

It's Social Sunday Sept. 13 After AM Masses
Our first Social Sunday of the new school year is Sept. 13 after the three morning Masses. Please go to Conahan Hall for donuts, coffee, fresh fruit, juice and a chance to chat with parishioners. We are in need of volunteers for this event. If you are able to help set up, clean up or re-stock, call the Rectory at 215-884-4022.

Parents Needed to Help With CYO Dances
Please contact the Rectory (215-884-4022) if you can help coordinate the four CYO dances in the upcoming school year (first dance is Sept. 18). Ideally the volunteers would be one 7th grade parent and one 8th grade parent. The main coordinator responsibilities are obtaining chaperones (great job for dads), buying refreshments for the snack bar, opening and closing the cafeteria and counting money. There is an itemized list of additional responsibilities and the previous dance coordinator will work to ensure a smooth transition.

Donations Sought for A Night at the Races
Our Fall Social and Benefit -- a Night at the Races -- is on Nov. 21. We continue to seek donations of bottles of wine or cases of beer. If you prefer, you could donate money and we will do the shopping for you! If you are able to donate any of these products please call the Rectory at 215-884-4022. As always, if you would rather contribute money or gift cards they will also greatly enhance our silent auction.

An Invitation to Become a Catholic
The Inquiry Period is now open for prospective catechumens, baptized Christians, or baptized, uncatechized Catholics to participate in the RCIA/Adult Faith Formation Program. We welcome referrals from all of our parishioners who may know of someone who is interested or those who may be invited to participate. Many times all that is needed in an invitation. Please contact Marie McGuigan at
mmcguigan250@gmail.com or 215-884-4022.
